The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team and play a key role in our continued growth. You'll lead complex and diverse structural projects, mentor engineers, strengthen client relationships, and help expand Bennett & Pless' presence in the market.

You will also remain actively involved in structural design and help us continue to leverage technology to improve how we design and deliver projects. What You'll Do

Lead the design and analysis of structural systems for new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects across multiple market sectors, including reinforced concrete, masonry, and structural steel. Manage structural engineering projects and lead project teams, ensuring successful delivery through compliance with applicable codes, client requirements, budgets, schedules, and Bennett & Pless QA/QC standards.

Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other project partners throughout all phases of design and construction. Perform site visits, structural assessments, investigations, and construction milestone reviews. Lead and contribute to preliminary and schematic design, structural system layout, and advanced design and analysis from the early stages of a project through completion.

Develop cost-effective engineering solutions, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities, including review of shop drawings and interpretation of construction documents. Mentor and oversee junior engineers and designers by providing technical guidance, coaching, and quality reviews. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing. 10+ years of structural engineering experience, including significant experience in structural analysis and design of commercial and/or light industrial structures. Experience managing structural engineering projects, leading project teams, and successfully balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective client and team relationships. Experience designing steel and concrete structures, including low- to mid-rise buildings with shallow foundation systems. Proficiency with structural analysis/modeling software used in the design of building structures.

Working knowledge of standard construction practices and applicable building and structural design codes, including ICC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE standards. Ability to travel locally and nationally on an occasional basis to support project and construction administration needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with steel-framed and cold storage facilities. Advanced knowledge of structural engineering software and experience delivering projects using Building Information Modeling (BIM) are strongly preferred. Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field. Structural Engineer (SE) license. Post-tensioned concrete design experience is a plus.
