About the Role
The Facilities Maintenance Worker plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic quality of buildings and surrounding areas within an organization. This position involves performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and executing repairs to prevent disruptions to daily operations.
The role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential facility problems and addressing them promptly to maintain a safe and efficient environment. The Facilities Maintenance Worker collaborates with various departments to support their facility needs and contributes to long-term maintenance planning. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building repair. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in facilities maintenance or related technical training. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations. Ability to operate forklifts or other machinery relevant to facility upkeep. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and vendors.
Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to provide effective solutions. Conduct repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing light fixtures, repairing doors and windows, and maintaining flooring and walls.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of facilities, including outdoor areas, to ensure a safe environment. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs performed. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during maintenance operations.
Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment or furniture for events or office moves. Skills: The Facilities Maintenance Worker utilizes technical skills daily to diagnose and repair a variety of building systems, ensuring operational continuity. Proficiency with hand and power tools is essential for performing repairs and maintenance tasks efficiently and safely.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations guides the worker in maintaining a hazard-free environment for all building occupants. Communication skills are important for coordinating with team members, management, and external contractors to complete projects and respond to urgent issues. Additionally, organizational skills help in maintaining detailed records and managing multiple maintenance tasks effectively.
