Area Manager - Newcastle

Downer is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead our surfacing operations across the Newcastle region . Reporting to the State Manager NSW/ACT, you will be responsible for safety, operational performance, financial results, client relationships and the leadership of a high-performing team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a well-established business and drive its continued growth and success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the Newcastle surfacing business to achieve safety, financial and operational targets. Champion Downer's Zero Harm culture and safety leadership. Drive business growth through strong client relationships and work-winning activities. Manage budgets, forecasting and overall P&L performance. Oversee contract delivery, tender submissions and commercial outcomes.

Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and business performance.

ABOUT YOU

Demonstrated operational leadership experience within surfacing, road infrastructure or a related industry. A genuine commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence. Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and business performance. Proven ability to develop client relationships and win new work.

Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams. Knowledge of contract management, tendering and operational delivery.
