Founding Recruiter

Your Mission UMA is building general-purpose mobile humanoid robots powered by AI. The company was founded in Paris in September 2025 by former leaders of Tesla Optimus AI, Google Deep. Mind robotics and Le. Robot at Hugging Face. We are around 40 people today and plan to double the team in the coming months. As our Founding Recruiter, you will build UMA's recruiting function from the ground up.

You will run hiring across AI research, robotics, hardware and software, work directly with the founders and People Lead. The people you bring in will design, build and train the robots we deploy with our first customers in logistics and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Own full-cycle recruiting for our open roles , from intake with the hiring team to signed offer Source candidates directly for hard-to-fill positions in embodied AI research, robotics, mechatronics and hardware Review and respond to a high volume of inbound applications within a few days Set hiring priorities with the founders and make sure every role has a clear profile and interview plan Maintain our ATS and report on pipeline health, time to hire and source quality Improve the hiring process : interview guides, scorecards, debriefs and offer turnaround Use AI tools and agents to automate sourcing, screening and recruiting operations Prepare offers , including salary and BSPCE benchmarks and relocation for international hires Drive employer branding with the People Lead: organize and promote our events, represent UMA at conferences, universities and open-source communities, and produce content for LinkedIn and our careers page What You Bring To The Table 7+ years of full-cycle tech recruiting, mostly in-house at startups or scale-ups A track record of hiring engineers and researchers in AI/ML, robotics, hardware or software Strong direct sourcing skills, including for candidates who are not actively looking Experience managing 10+ open roles at the same time while keeping every candidate informed Working knowledge of HR fundamentals: offers, employment contracts and onboarding Autonomy, discretion, and a proactive mindset : you get things done before being asked.

Hands-on experience with an ATS and with AI tools in your recruiting workflow Fluent in English. French is a plus. Bonus: experience in a robotics startup, and a genuine interest in robots and embodied AI. Details: FR permanent contract, BSPCE equity, on-site in Paris, no full remote, but flexible schedule.
