Job description

About the Role

We're looking for someone to help us build what's next in Salt Lake. If you already know the petroleum industry, understand the equipment, and have customer relationships you've spent years building, we want to build on that experience. If your background is outside petroleum but you know how to develop business, earn customers' trust, and turn opportunities into long-term relationships, we want to talk to you too.

Petroleum experience is valued, but it isn't the only path to success here. We can teach the industry.

What we're looking for

is someone who brings initiative, follow-through, relationship-building skills, and a desire to grow. Eaton has an established presence in Utah, but we believe there's still a lot left to build - new customers, new relationships, and markets we haven't fully developed. We're looking for someone who wants to help us build them.

What You'll Do

This is a field-based sales position built around relationships, opportunity development, and follow-through. You'll spend time with customers, contractors, facility managers, business owners, and other decision-makers learning their operations, understanding their needs, and identifying where Eaton can help. Develop new business while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.

Prospect, visit customers, and identify new opportunities throughout the market. Learn Eaton's petroleum equipment, service, construction, and related capabilities. Perform site visits and gather the information necessary to develop accurate scopes and estimates. Prepare and present proposals and equipment quotations.

Maintain consistent follow-up throughout the sales process. Work with Service, Construction, Purchasing, and branch leadership to make sure what we sell can be delivered successfully. Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and follow-up information. Take an opportunity from initial conversation through customer authorization and a complete internal handoff.

How We Approach Sales At our Salt Lake branch, Sales owns the opportunity. Operations owns the execution. Winning the work matters. So does what happens after it's sold. We expect Sales to understand the customer's needs, gather the right information, involve the appropriate people before commitments are made, and provide our operational teams with a complete handoff.

Once the work moves into execution, Service and Construction leadership take responsibility for scheduling, manpower, and field execution while Sales continues supporting the customer relationship. You don't need to do everyone else's job. You need to do your job in a way that helps the next person succeed. That's an important part of how we're building the Salt Lake team.

What We're Looking For

Industry experience can give you a head start here, but it isn't the only thing we're looking for. Naturally build relationships and earn people's trust. Are comfortable talking with technicians, contractors, project managers, business owners, and executives. Enjoy developing new business rather than waiting for opportunities to come to you.

Can work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities. Ask good questions and are willing to learn technical products and systems. Communicate clearly and follow through on commitments. Can negotiate and close business without sacrificing the relationship. Work well with operational teams and understand that selling and delivering the work are connected.

Take pride in doing things the right way. Outside sales or customer-facing experience is preferred. Experience in petroleum equipment, fuel systems, construction, industrial services, mechanical equipment, technical sales, or a related field is a strong plus - but petroleum-industry experience is not required. A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record are required.

Your Opportunity to Grow We're intentionally not defining this position around a rigid territory from day one. We want you to first learn the business, our customers, our products, and how our Service and Construction teams operate. From there, your responsibilities can grow along with the opportunities you help create.

There are customers we haven't met, relationships we haven't developed, and areas of the market we haven't fully explored. You aren't simply being handed somebody else's finished map. You'll have an opportunity to help us draw part of it.

Compensation

Starting salary begins at $65,000 per year , with compensation based on relevant experience and qualifications. Petroleum-industry experience is valued, but not required. Candidates with established industry knowledge, customer relationships, technical sales experience, or other directly relevant experience will be considered accordingly.

We're equally interested in strong sales professionals from outside the petroleum industry who have demonstrated an ability to build relationships, develop new business, and learn technical products and services. We use a simple idea around our Salt Lake branch: Everyone has a seat. Everyone has a role. And everyone's work affects the people around them. We're looking for someone who wants to take ownership of their seat, build strong customer relationships, learn the business, and help us find opportunities we aren't reaching today.

Bring what you know. We'll help teach what you don't. Then let's see what we can build together. We saved you a seat. Apply today.
