Graduate Quantity Surveyor
Job description
Job Title: Graduate Quantity Surveyor Role purpose The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in managing project costs, contracts, and financial performance. Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, the role will provide exposure to all aspects of cost management from tender through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and commercially controlled.
Responsibilities
& Duties Including but not limited to the following: Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets. Support the measurement and valuation of works completed. Help prepare subcontractor packages and contract documentation. Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities. Assist with procurement activities and supplier evaluations.
Support the preparation of interim applications, valuations, and final accounts. Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation. Attend project meetings and liaise with operational teams. Assist with contract administration and change management processes. Develop an understanding of NEC and other construction contracts.
Key interfaces Relationships with key stakeholders: Quantity Surveyors Client Representatives Project Managers External stakeholders, e.g. client, authorities Person Specification Strong numerical and analytical skills Excellent attention to detail Good communication and interpersonal skills Commercial awareness Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Eagerness to learn and develop professionally Willingness to travel to project sites Qualifications and experience A relevant degree in one of the below: Quantity Surveying Commercial Management Construction Management Construction Economics Civil Engineering (with commercial modules) Desirable: Cost management principles Construction contracts (NEC) Estimating and budgeting Microsoft Excel and commercial software Values In line with Omexom’s values, the jobholder must have the following qualities: Team Spirit & Generosity – able to work effectively within and contribute to the Omexom team to deliver results, provide support and drive performance.
