Per Diem Pharmacy Apprentice; Mount Sinai Hospital

Fill orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals and perform other related duties under the supervision and direction of a pharmacy supervisor or staff pharmacist. Duties include keeping records of drugs delivered to the pharmacy, storing incoming merchandise in proper locations, and informing the supervisor of stock needs and shortages.

May clean equipment used in the performance of duties and assist in the care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

1. Assists pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medication.
2. Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules and prepares labels for bottles.
3. Fills medications orders for individual patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
4. Receives and stores incoming supplies.
5. Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
6. Prepares intravenous (IV) medication using sterile technique under the supervision of hospital pharmacists.
