What You'll Do

The Corporate Accounting Intern position will be responsible for performing special projects directed towards enhancing ERP integrity. The successful candidate will have a positive, professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills and will be able to work as a team player. The nature of the work will require that the candidate demonstrate initiative, responsibility, and be flexible/adaptive to a fast-paced and fluid business environment.

Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the department and organization. Basic understanding of general accounting principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Special projects assigned to enhance ERP reporting and analytical capabilities (e.g. dashboard for vehicle maintenance expense tracking and analysis). Perform business case analyses to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and recommend process improvements. (e.g. small market ready mix plant profitability). Support management staff as needed.

Education

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret financial statements and work with data-visualization platforms such as Microsoft Power BI. Ability to work in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of the organization.

Keyboard Skills: Ability to type both text and figures quickly and accurately. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving complex data and data-visualization tools. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheet software and word processing software.
