We proudly prepare and serve restaurant-quality food, with a focus on sustainability across all aspects of our food service operations. We have both a container farm and an actual farm . The GCDS Dining Hall team takes great pride in serving fantastic meals to hundreds of students, faculty, and staff daily. We serve a variety of cuisines, including Oaxacan, Sicilian, East African, Vietnamese, and Indian, just to name a few. Our goal is not just to serve great school food, but to serve some of the best-quality food in Connecticut! This is a full-time, 10-month/year position. All kitchen and dining room personnel must be available to work evening and/or weekend special events, as scheduled.

Responsibilities Include

Managing allergen-safe prep areas, executing strict cross-contamination protocols, substituting ingredients to maintain meal appeal for picky/sensory-sensitive eaters, and following medical dietary request forms. Supporting general line production, main menu prep, batch cooking, and station breakdown during non-peak special diet prep hours.

Follow all safety protocols with regard to proper sanitizing and food allergies Producing items for the hot entree of the day, as well as preparing for events Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Required Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience in schools, hotels, restaurants, and/or catering Serv.

Safe Allergen Certification, Aller. Train K-12, or state-level Child Nutrition Special Diets credentials Ability to lift 25-50+ pounds and stand for long stretches of time Proficient in food preparation, cooking techniques, and portion control Previous experience in a school or institutional culinary setting is preferred Ability to work collaboratively in a team, maintain a clean workstation, and manage time efficiently Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines Willingness to offer and accept constructive criticism for the overall improvement of the team Ability to understand both written and verbal instructions in English Ability to work well under pressure and with the time constraints of a busy commercial kitchen Benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision coverage Retirement benefits Uniforms and safety shoes provided 10-month/year schedule with summers off Generous vacation time allowance Regular schedule Interested candidates are invited to use the link below to submit a cover letter and resume to Raquel Salcedo, Director of Recruiting & Talent
