Job description

A growing Midwest general contractor is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to generate new commercial, industrial, and agricultural construction opportunities. The ideal candidate has strong construction industry relationships, an established Midwest network, and a proven record of generating measurable project revenue.

This individual should bring an existing, portable network of industry contacts and a demonstrated ability to secure negotiated construction projects. Candidates must have experience selling complete construction projects for a commercial, industrial, agricultural, design-build, or pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) contractor.

Responsibilities

Develop new commercial, industrial, and agricultural construction opportunities. Build relationships with developers, brokers, architects, owners, and contractors. Identify projects early and secure negotiated construction opportunities. Manage the business development pipeline from initial contact through contract award.

Work closely with estimating, pre-construction, and operations teams. Represent the company at client meetings, networking events, and industry functions.

Requirements

7+ years of construction business development or construction sales experience. Experience working for a commercial, industrial, agricultural, design-build, general contractor (GC), or pre-engineered metal building (PEMB)/metal building contractor is required. Must have experience selling complete construction projects rather than individual products or building materials.

Proven commercial and/or industrial construction business development experience. Established relationships with developers, commercial real estate brokers, architects, corporate owners, and other key decision-makers throughout South Dakota and the Midwest. Demonstrated ability to generate and secure negotiated construction projects.

Proven track record of generating $5 million or more in personally generated annual project revenue. Portable Midwest network with the ability to immediately develop new business opportunities. Strong communication, networking, relationship-building, and negotiation skills Experience with regional general contractors, design-build firms, industrial contractors, agricultural contractors, or metal-building companies.

Experience selling or developing complete construction projects involving: Steel construction.Metal Buildings Pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) Industrial facilities Manufacturing facilities Distribution centers Commercial and agricultural construction projects Active network of developers, commercial real estate brokers, architects, and corporate owners across the Midwest.
