Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to effectively train, mentor, and evaluate our diverse workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Auditing: Conduct daily on-site safety audits, site inspections, and safety drills to ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations. Operational Safety: Ensure proper use of PPE, established drop zones, and work-zone traffic control. Technical Evaluation: Perform hands-on validation of crew skills, including the identification of improper knots, unsafe climbing ties, and incorrect directional felling techniques.
Safety Observations: Conduct "hands-on" job observations to certify employee proficiency for promotions, ensuring they meet technical and safety benchmarks. Coaching & Mentorship: Maintain a strong "coaching" mentality, providing firm, corrective feedback in the field while maintaining a professional and supportive rapport with crews.
Bilingual Delivery: Coordinate and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and new hire orientations in both English and Spanish. Translation: Translate complex safety technicalities into conversational Spanish to ensure clear understanding by field crews. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with the Recruiting and Onboarding Specialist and the Safety Director to ensure all training and certifications are managed and tracked for all field employees.
Investigations: Assist in investigating accidents, near-misses, and injuries; identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate training logs, inspection reports, and equipment inventory. Reporting: Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software to prepare periodic performance and compliance reports for management.
Skills & Qualifications: Experience: 2+ years of experience in a safety-related role, specifically specializing in Vegetation Management and Utility Line Clearance. Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English and Spanish fluently. Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of industry-specific techniques (climbing, rigging, felling).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to use safety management software for data analysis and reporting. Core Competencies: Ability to identify hazards and implement immediate corrective measures. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to cultivating a "Brother’s Keeper" safety culture.
Pre-Screen Upon offer, employees may be required to subject and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background and/or MVR check. License & Certifications: Valid driver's license required. CPR/First Aid/AED certified or obtainable within 90 days. Work Environment: Field/Office Balance: Ability to work in both office settings and rugged field environments.
Physicality: Must be comfortable navigating active tree-trimming sites and performing site inspections in various weather conditions. Job Type: Full-Time; Monday – Friday 7AM – 5:30PM.
