Ophthalmic Technician

Ophthalmic Technician Location: Fort Myers (SW Florida Eye Care), FL, 33912 Job Summary SW Florida Eye Care is seeking a skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team in Fort Myers, FL. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists and optometrists by performing a variety of technical and clinical tasks to ensure efficient patient care and accurate diagnostic testing.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct preliminary eye exams and diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, visual fields, and tonometry. Prepare patients for examination by explaining procedures and answering questions. Assist provider during patient exams and minor procedures. Maintain and operate ophthalmic equipment and ensure proper calibration and cleanliness.

Record patient medical histories and document examination results accurately. Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow efficiently. Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols. Collaborate with the clinical team to provide excellent patient care and support.

Qualifications

Proven experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or similar role. Knowledge of ophthalmic instruments and diagnostic procedures. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred but not required.

High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in ophthalmic technology is a plus.
