Now Hiring: Utility Engineer Location: EVEN Hotel, Belgrade, MT Maintenance Utility Engineer.pdf Perform routine and preventive maintenance, general repairs, and upkeep of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems, including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and related repairs.
Monitor heating, cooling, boiler, hot water, and other building systems; replace air filters, adjust HVAC controls according to established schedules, and report equipment concerns requiring additional service. Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and operational maintenance needs in accordance with OHM, property, and brand standards.
Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify maintenance needs, ensure proper equipment operation, and maintain the overall condition and appearance of the property. Complete minor repairs to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, flooring, wallpaper, countertops, and other interior and exterior surfaces.
Coordinate maintenance activities with Front Office, Housekeeping, Sales, Food and Beverage, and other departments to minimize operational disruptions and support guest needs, including audiovisual equipment setup and assistance as assigned. Maintain pool areas and related equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition; perform routine maintenance as assigned and follow applicable safety requirements.
Complete and document preventive maintenance tasks, repairs, inspections, and guest room maintenance in accordance with established procedures. Monitor equipment operation and utility meter readings, reporting unusual readings, leaks, malfunctions, or other concerns to the appropriate leadership. Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance parts, tools, supplies, and materials; communicate supply needs and help ensure items are stored properly.
Assist with the setup, programming, and basic maintenance of telephone systems, audiovisual equipment, and other hotel equipment as needed. Follow established procedures for chemical handling, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), personal protective equipment, and lockout/tagout, as applicable to assigned duties. Learn and follow hotel emergency procedures, workplace safety requirements, and applicable property-specific operating procedures.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance areas and promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, and property damage. Provide courteous, professional service to guests and team members while maintaining appropriate communication and protecting guest privacy. Report to work as scheduled, arrive on time, and comply with company appearance, uniform, and grooming standards.
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards applicable to the position. Support OHM's O’Reach, OHX Experience, Green Team, Guest Service, Team Member Satisfaction, Health & Wellness, and Safety initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership. Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of general building maintenance, repair practices, tools, equipment, and hotel facility systems.
Ability to troubleshoot routine maintenance issues, identify potential problems, and determine when additional assistance is needed. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other general repair practices. Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritize maintenance requests, manage multiple tasks, and respond to changing operational needs.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and other departments. Ability to communicate professionally and provide responsive, service-oriented support to guests and team members. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, equipment, and maintenance chemicals in accordance with established procedures.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, complete assigned tasks, and maintain accurate maintenance records. Dependability, attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and well-maintained property. Ability to learn and comply with applicable company, property, brand, and safety standards.
Education, Experience, and Requirements: Must successfully complete and pass all required pre-employment drug screening requirements. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certificate from a technical or trade school and completion of apprenticeship in HVAC, plumbing and electrical repair preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.
Hours: Position requires flexibility to work adjusted schedule, including nights and weekends as needed. Responsible for responding to emergencies as necessary, requiring the possibility of response times occurring at nights and/or weekends. Physical Requirements and Activities of the Position: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking/pinching with fingers, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Visual Acuity Requirements: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures. Environmental Conditions: Subject to both environmental conditions.
Activities occur inside and outside. Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. May require occasional work in close quarters, crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
May be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways. *This is a safety sensitive position that may be subject to additional safety requirements.
