Job description

We are looking for a Lead UI Technical Artist to define the core systems, materials, and motion language that unify high-end game UI across platforms in Unreal Engine. You will act as a force multiplier for UX/UI by building polished, performant UI tech art solutions and mentoring the team.

Responsibilities

Define UI tech art systems, materials, and motion language that others build on Craft highly polished and performant UI tech art solutions using materials, UMG, animation, FX, blueprints, lighting, and camera tools Build consistent visual patterns for motion, FX, transitions, scale, and proportion across the UI Create Sequencer-driven animated transitions and cinematic camera beats that enhance UI feel Establish forward-looking templates, thematics, and principles for reusable UI tech art Plan cross-platform adaptation strategies balancing fidelity and performance constraints Own tooling, pipelines, and UI tech art asset management to improve team throughput Collaborate with UX/UI and visual design to translate intent into polished interactive motion details Implement hover states, micro-interactions, and easing to improve responsiveness and feel Optimize shaders, textures, materials, and VFX to meet performance budgets Validate lighting and post-process choices to support clarity, mood, and readability Mentor UI artists and visual designers through reviews, guidance, and best practices Requirements 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist, UI Tech Artist, or VFX Artist in games Expert Unreal Engine 5 experience with Material Editor and Niagara for real-time VFX Advanced Sequencer experience for animated transitions and cinematic camera moves Strong material functions and systems knowledge including shader logic and optimization Advanced UV math skills for precise, performant material and UI effects work Strong 3D modeling skills and fluency where 3D meets UI (cameras, lighting, framing) Proven leadership skills through mentoring UI artists and visual designers Solid real-time lighting and post-process techniques knowledge for mood and atmosphere Strong performance profiling skills for real-time UI, materials, and VFX Excellent collaboration skills to elevate established UX and visual designs with technical polish High ambiguity tolerance and problem-solving skills in exploratory UI prototyping Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2) for clear collaboration and documentation Nice to have Experience building reusable or modular VFX and material systems for large UI surfaces Background in cinematics, trailer work, or environmental mood and lighting design Familiarity with UMG and how UI logic interacts with material and VFX systems Experience applying AI assistants to speed up iteration, documentation, or tooling workflows Strong understanding of gaming UI conventions and player-first interaction patterns
