Shipping Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees Supervises and coordinates activities of subordinates to kit and deliver required materials to appropriate departments. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

Issues written and oral instructions. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances. Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.

Adjusts errors and complaints. Assists subordinates in performing duties. Enforces and maintains safe work place. May be given certain authority within job scope by Manager Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent a violation of the Tenneco Integrity Policy. All employees will abide by the plant’s safety policy, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard.

An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself. Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor. Responsible for ensuring customer requirements are met. Handle/store hazardous waste in a complaint manner with all federal, state, and local regulations.

EDUCATION

High School graduate or equivalent. Technical degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum 2-3 years experience or training in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

Previous experience in supervision role preferred.
