Job description

Description Spring Valley is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and results-driven Safety Manager to lead and strengthen the safety culture across our eight manufacturing facilities. This position will provide strategic leadership and hands-on support to promote a safe work environment, reduce work-related injuries and illnesses, and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and company standards.

The Safety Manager will identify opportunities for continuous improvement, develop and implement effective safety programs, and partner with employees and leadership at all levels to drive accountability and engagement. This role will work closely with plant management and employees to assess risks, implement preventative measures, provide training, and establish consistent safety practices across all locations.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and leader who can build relationships throughout the organization while balancing a practical, hands-on approach with a strong understanding of safety best practices and regulatory requirements. Role and Responsibilities Lead, develop, implement, and enforce company-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs across all eight manufacturing facilities in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA requirements.

Continuously review and update safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory changes, industry standards, and company requirements. Identify safety risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities for improvement; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risk and improve overall safety performance.

Develop and implement comprehensive Safety and Health programs, systems, and processes that establish clear expectations and promote a proactive safety culture at all levels of the organization. Partner with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to promote safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Conduct periodic safety inspections and audits at all facilities; identify hazards, document findings, establish required corrective actions, and follow up to ensure timely resolution. Oversee the investigation of all work-related injuries, illnesses, incidents, and near misses. Identify root causes and develop corrective action plans designed to prevent recurrence.

Maintain accurate and timely company safety records, including OSHA 300 Logs, OSHA 301 Forms, incident records, safety metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Prepare and analyze reports on employee injuries, incidents, safety trends, and other key metrics; provide recommendations to leadership based on findings.

Establish and monitor safety KPIs across all facilities and provide regular reporting to senior leadership. Coordinate and facilitate periodic Safety Committee meetings, including preparing agendas, maintaining meeting records, tracking action items, and ensuring corrective actions are completed. Develop, coordinate, and conduct safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and management across all manufacturing locations.

Maintain accurate and current employee safety training records within the Company's Learning Management System (LMS). Ensure required regulatory postings, documentation, permits, and records are maintained at each facility. Serve as a resource to management and employees regarding safety requirements, hazard identification, incident prevention, and regulatory compliance.

Monitor changes in federal, state, and local safety regulations and communicate applicable requirements and recommended actions to company leadership. Interact with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other regulatory agencies as necessary, including assisting with inspections, inquiries, and compliance matters. Support the development of emergency response procedures, safety drills, and business continuity plans as needed.

Promote a proactive, company-wide safety culture through communication, employee engagement, coaching, and recognition of safe behaviors. Travel to company manufacturing facilities as needed to conduct audits, training, investigations, and provide on-site safety support.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive Safety & Health experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Professional certification(s) in Safety, Health, Environmental, or a related discipline preferred.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards related to workplace safety and environmental compliance. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards applicable to manufacturing operations; knowledge of DOT and EPA requirements preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and locations simultaneously. Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and develop practical solutions to reduce risk and improve safety performance.

Willingness and ability to travel to company facilities, expected to be less than 25% of working time.
