The successful candidate can expect a competitive base salary of $57,476 annually, depending on experience. Position Overview
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for the accurate and efficient execution of shipping, receiving, inventory transactions, and product transfers across Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB) operations. Acting as the primary point of coordination for inbound and outbound product movement, this role ensures shipments are received, documented, transferred, staged, and dispatched accurately and in accordance with operational priorities and established procedures.
Working closely with the Warehouse Lead, Warehouse Assistant Manager, Logistics team, Drivers, and Warehouse Associates, the Shipper/Receiver coordinates day-to-day shipping and receiving activities, maintains inventory integrity, prepares shipping and transfer documentation, and supports the effective flow of products between GVFB facilities.
This role is accountable for the accuracy of inventory records, shipping and receiving transactions, and product movement documentation while helping maintain a safe, organized, and operationally ready warehouse environment. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The Shipper/Receiver serves as a key operational link between warehouse, logistics, distribution, and agency operations, helping ensure products move efficiently, accurately, and safely throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Own the daily accuracy of shipping and receiving transactions by inspecting, weighing, counting, and recording inbound and outbound product movements in the digital inbound/outbound system. Maintain clear, timely, and respectful communication with assigned team members and colleagues across the organization, ensuring priorities, changes, issues, and follow-up actions are understood and appropriately shared.
Create daily delivery orders for product movements between GVFB locations. Prepare shipping documentation and coordinate the staging and loading of completed outbound orders into the correct vehicles. Receive and unload inbound deliveries, confirm quantities and condition, and direct Warehouse Associates to complete put-away tasks as required.
Coordinate directly with the Logistics team regarding inbound and outbound schedules, trucking needs, transfers, returns, and delivery requirements. Coordinate assigned daily tasks for Warehouse Associates, Warehouse/Sort Associates, and Drivers that relate specifically to receiving, shipping, transfers, returns, and order movement.
Prepare orders for Lougheed and Winston Community Agencies Markets and maintain detailed transfer and stock records. Create Lougheed transfer truck sheets, calculate outbound menu quantities, and communicate order-building requirements to the Warehouse Lead for assignment to the Warehouse team. Maintain complete and accurate shipping, receiving, transfer, inventory, and administrative records.
Identify and report shipment discrepancies, defects, damages, or inventory concerns to the Warehouse Lead and Warehouse Assistant Manager. Uphold food-handling requirements and safe machinery operating practices in the shipping and receiving area. Maintain a friendly and professional presence for drivers, deliveries, partners, and visitors at the shipping and receiving area.
Keep the shipping and receiving area clean, tidy, organized, and ready for safe daily operations. Support Distribution and Agencies teams with product movements and setup when shipping and receiving priorities permit. Implement approved process changes related to shipping, receiving, transfers, and inventory transactions.
Provide operational support to the Warehouse Lead and Warehouse Assistant Manager and complete other duties as assigned. Personal Attributes and Core Skills Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both in-person and through digital correspondence. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Planning, time-management, and resource allocation skills.
Strong ability to deal constructively with challenges and consistently provide a solution-oriented approach. Flexibility in working in an every-changing environment where priorities can shift rapidly. A positive, can-do attitude!
Qualifications
and Experience 1+ years of experience operating industrial machinery in a warehouse environment, including experience operating at least two of the following: electric pallet jacks, counterbalanced forklifts, and reach trucks Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and iOS (iPhone) Previous experience with warehouse or inventory management systems is an asset A BC Class 5 driving license and ability to provide 3 years Insurance Claims History and 3 years clean Driver’s Abstract is an asset as there is opportunity to receive training on relief driving duties Physical Requirements Exposure to ambient temperatures and noisy conditions; Proper safety footwear required with reimbursements provided following probationary period; Bending and lifting boxes up to 50 lbs on a regular basis; Ability to physically operate and handle both a manual and electric pallet jack.
