Closing Date 20/11/2026 Job Title: Alarm Monitoring Control Supervisor Location: Durrington Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full time – shift pattern Salary: c.£39,000 plus overtime About the role This role will be based at our Durrington Head Office. As the Alarm Monitoring Centre (AMC) Supervisor, you'll lead the day-to-day operation of Southern Water's 24/7 security monitoring function, protecting our people, assets and operational sites across the region.

You'll oversee the monitoring of alarms, CCTV activations and remote access requests, ensuring incidents are managed in line with agreed procedures and security response plans. Working closely with Operational Control, security suppliers and key stakeholders, you'll help drive operational excellence, continuous improvement and the effective delivery of our wider security strategy.

Please note that the successful candidate must hold, or be able to attain, National Security Vetting to Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level. What you will be responsible for: Supervising the day-to-day operation of the Alarm Monitoring Centre and leading a team of AMC Operators. Ensuring alarms, CCTV activations, remote access requests and security incidents are investigated, managed and escalated within agreed response times.

Maintaining appropriate staffing levels, capability and performance standards across the 24/7 operation. Coaching, training and developing AMC Operators to ensure they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver an effective monitoring service and meet operational performance targets. Promoting a customer-focused culture, ensuring a professional, responsive and high-quality service is delivered to colleagues,stakeholders and members of the public.

Managing security system maintenance requests and supporting the implementation of new security technologies, working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery. Developing best practice in alarm handling, incident management and security investigations, while using performance data and reporting to drive continuous improvement Additional Requirements specific to the role Participate in a rostered shift pattern and complete agreed rostered months.

What you'll bring

Experience supervising or leading teams within an Alarm Monitoring Centre (AMC), Security Operations Centre (SOC) or similar 24/7 control room environment. Strong knowledge of CCTV, intrusion detection, access control systems and integrated security operations. Understanding of legislation and best practice relating to CCTV monitoring and security operations.

Experience managing security incidents, investigations and escalation procedures. Proven ability to work calmly and effectively during high-pressure situations and emergency incidents. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a large organisation.

Experience working with third-party security providers, engineers and system integrators. Ability to analyse operational data and produce meaningful reports and recommendations. SIA CCTV and Door Supervisor licences. Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC) vetting. Experience within utilities, critical national infrastructure or other highly regulated environments, and membership of a recognised security professional body such as The Security Institute or ASIS International.
