About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Snowflake Engineer to support a key data transformation programme at a leading insurance client. This role combines strong hands-on Snowflake engineering expertise with business engagement, stakeholder management and change leadership. You will work closely with senior leadership and business stakeholders to shape the direction of the data platform, challenge existing ways of working and drive the adoption of new data capabilities.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating beyond technical delivery, translating business objectives into technical solutions and helping stakeholders navigate organisational and operational change. Contract: 6 months initially Location: UK or Ireland Working arrangement: On-site in Bristol or Ireland What you’ll do Snowflake engineering Design, develop and optimise scalable data pipelines and solutions using Snowflake Build and maintain robust data ingestion and transformation processes across multiple source systems Develop complex SQL queries, data models and transformation logic Improve platform performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency Apply engineering best practices, including testing, version control, CI/CD and documentation Collaborate with architects, engineers and technology teams to deliver programme objectives Business engagement and change management Work directly with senior leadership to understand strategic priorities and translate business needs into actionable data solutions Constructively challenge existing processes, assumptions and ways of working Support business transformation initiatives associated with new data capabilities Bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives and outcomes Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and senior decision-makers Identify risks, dependencies and barriers to adoption, and recommend practical solutions Help drive a data-led culture and embed new processes across the business What success looks like Delivering reliable, scalable Snowflake solutions aligned with business priorities Building trusted relationships with senior leadership Constructively challenging existing processes to drive measurable improvements Supporting successful adoption of new data capabilities and ways of working What you’ll need Strong hands-on experience as a Senior Snowflake Engineer or Senior Data Engineer Advanced SQL skills and experience building production-grade data pipelines Experience with data integration, ELT/ETL processes and modern data platforms Proven experience engaging with senior business stakeholders and leadership teams Experience supporting business transformation, change management or data platform adoption Confidence challenging existing business practices and influencing decisions Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills The ability to work independently and deliver in a contract environment Willingness and ability to work on-site in Bristol or Ireland Desirable Experience in insurance or other regulated industries Enterprise-scale data transformation experience Familiarity with data governance and data quality practices Experience with dbt, Python and cloud data engineering tools Experience supporting strategic change alongside senior leadership Inclusion and equal opportunities We are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team at Billigence.
