Helix - Para Professional (Full Time)

Helix SD is hiring a full-time paraprofessional with a start date of ASAP This full time position will work 5 days per week, 8 hours per day with a paid lunch break as well as $2,000 towards medical, dental and vision benefits per month. This is a full-time position - approximately 170 days - depending on start date Salary: $20.20-$25.25 based on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

& RESPONSIBILITIES: Meet the learning needs of individual students by assisting the classroom teacher, in planning and implementing instructional strategies appropriate to student(s). Physically assist student(s) up to 50 pounds. Assist classroom teacher in acquiring or creating appropriate instructional materials. Carry out team designed programs as prescribed for the child.

Present educational programs imaginatively and in a manner that captures attention, maintains interest and motivates student(s). Use learning activities designed to achieve stated objectives. Keep accurate record of activities and objectives for assigned student. Use time and materials effectively in relation to lesson goals and objectives.

Provide an atmosphere in which student(s) remain on task and are expected to reach goals. Cooperate with specialist(s) and classroom teacher to establish parameters for student behavior and communicate clearly to the student(s). Assist the specialist(s) and classroom teacher in setting up and maintaining student files.

Manage discipline problems fairly and in accordance with building regulations, HELIX SD board policies, the students' individual behavioral plan and legal requirements; thereby insuring the safety, care, security and welfare of the student(s) assigned. Demonstrate attention to the child's health and physical safety. Immediately notify teacher of any threat to the child's well-being.

Use and maintain HELIX SD and building property, equipment, and materials appropriately. Demonstrate commitment to growth through participation in such activities as program sponsored training, course work and individual reading. Perform other reasonable duties that from time to time may be assigned to meet the usual and unusual demands placed on the organization.

Ability to assist at all HELIX SD locations.
