Position Summary

The Sheeter Operator is responsible for assisting the Lead Sheeter Operator with the safe and efficient operation of sheeting equipment. This position prepares and loads paper rolls, operates and monitors the sheeter, performs quality checks throughout production, maintains accurate production records, and ensures finished sheets meet job specifications.

This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow job specifications, and a commitment to producing quality work while maintaining an organized and safe work area.

Shift: Tuesday

  • Thursday 7:00am-3:00pm and Friday 7:00am-5:00pm Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sheeter Operations Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required PPE requirements. Assist the Lead Sheeter Operator with the setup and operation of sheeting equipment. Enter jobs and required information into the sheeting interface. Set trim guides and adjust the stacker as needed. Ensure proper jogging, alignment, and stacking of paper. Verify that the correct materials are being used for each job. Enter required production information into the Management System and other company spreadsheets. Accurately charge paper to the correct job in the EFI system. Clock into each job when production begins and clock out when the job is completed. Monitor equipment and production throughout the job and communicate issues to the Lead Sheeter Operator or supervisor. Follow job specifications and production instructions to ensure accurate and efficient production. Quality Control Inspect paper rolls for visible defects before production. Verify that the correct rolls have been staged or delivered for the job, including size, quantity, orientation, consignment/non-consignment status, customer-owned materials, and other applicable requirements. Inspect the first sheets produced to verify correct size, appearance, and overall quality. Monitor finished sheets throughout production for defects or inconsistencies. Check and verify caliper and squareness according to established requirements. Sign off on the top sheet of each completed skid as required. Immediately report quality concerns or material issues to Quality Control, the Lead Sheeter Operator, or appropriate supervisor. Stop and escalate production when a significant quality issue is identified rather than allowing defective material to continue through the process. Roll Preparation & Material Handling Use forklift and clamp truck to load, unload, and organize rolls and pallets. Remove roll tags and properly label rolls with the appropriate job number and corresponding backstand number. Remove outer roll wrapping and inspect rolls for defects before loading. Apply splice tape as required and safely position rolls onto the skate. Properly line rolls onto the machine and ensure correct webbing through the sheeter. Ensure paper rolls are properly positioned and secured before operation. Properly dispose of slab-off material in designated areas. Band slab-off material when the designated container or area is full. Maintain organized material staging and ensure materials are returned or stored appropriately after production. Housekeeping & Miscellaneous Duties Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the shift. Shred paper and band skids as needed. Empty trash and production waste containers when full. Assist with special projects and other production activities as assigned. Perform routine in-house maintenance or housekeeping tasks within the scope of training and authorization. Report equipment problems, maintenance needs, safety concerns, or other issues promptly. Assist other production employees or departments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience driving a forklift, clamp truck experience also preferred Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to error prevention. Ability to identify and respond appropriately to quality concerns. Positive and professional attitude.

Strong work ethic and dependability. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Basic computer skills and comfort working with production systems and technology. Ability to learn and accurately enter information into computer systems and spreadsheets.

Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, Quality Control, and other departments. Ability to move throughout the facility to obtain information, materials, and supplies. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to successfully complete any required pre-employment testing or skills assessments.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, or machine operation experience preferred but not required. Previous experience operating sheeting, converting, printing, or similar production equipment is a plus. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the production area. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to work around moving machinery and production equipment. Ability to perform repetitive movements associated with machine operation and material handling.

Ability to safely handle paper rolls and other production materials. Ability to wear required PPE while working in production areas. Work Environment This position works primarily in a manufacturing and production environment. The employee will regularly be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, paper dust or airborne particles, and varying temperatures, including periods of increased heat.
