About Macon-Bibb County

Macon-Bibb County is the 4th largest city in state of Georgia and is a cultural, transportation, and logistics hub for the region and state. On July 30, 2011, the voters approved the creation of a new, consolidated government that will serve all citizens living in Bibb County. The new government is called Macon-Bibb County and serves as both the municipal and county government. On January 1, 2014, the separate city and county governments were dissolved and replaced with a consolidated Macon-Bibb County government. This change was overwhelmingly voted for by the people. The Macon-Bibb County Government serves a community of about 155,000 people and is led by a 10-member Commission, with the Mayor serving as its Chair.
