Summary Job Description: Registered Nurse-PACU Full Time I Third Shift Surgical Services I Lexington, KY $15,000 Sign on Bonus Available for Qualified Individuals The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a specialized hospital unit where patients are closely monitored and cared for immediately following surgical or procedural interventions requiring anesthesia.
The PACU is critical for ensuring patient safety and comfort during the initial recovery period, addressing potential complications, and transitioning patients to the next phase of care. Description: Assessment of patients’ needs. Development of patient care plans Provision of direct care. Management of patient care delivery.
Demonstrate leadership skills. Support for quality care. Customer relations and healing environment. On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation. Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking and creativity.
Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Students.
Requirements
Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky. Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university. Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date. ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
