Operating Room Assistant | Part Time
Job description
At Meritus Health, every surgical procedure is a team effort-and Operating Room Assistants play a vital role in ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate care. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you’ll support the physical and psychosocial needs of surgical patients, assist with intraoperative preparation, and help maintain a smooth, respectful environment for both patients and staff.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting, values teamwork, and is committed to supporting high-quality surgical care.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the physical and emotional needs of surgical patients before, during, and after procedures Support the surgical team by preparing equipment, supplies, and patient areas Maintain effective communication with team members to ensure continuity of care Foster positive relationships with other departments and nursing units Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and empathy in all patient interactions Uphold Meritus Health’s standards of safety, service, and collaboration Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of a Nursing Assistant program preferred Experience Related experience in patient care preferred Licensure/Certification Current BLS (CPR) certification required, in compliance with Meritus Health policy Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to patient-centered care and team-based support Caring for Our Team We are committed to supporting the well-being and professional development of our team members through a comprehensive benefits package, which includes: Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Coverage begins on the first of the month following your hire date .
