Groundskeeper

Groundskeeper opening at our Horizons at Indian River community located in Chesapeake, VA. JOB TITLE: MF-Groundskeeper REPORTS TO: Service Manager SUPERVISES: N/A POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt SUMMARY OF POSITION: Maintain the property in a clean, safe, and attractive condition at all times, and perform related functions as required.

This position is considered an essential function to the operation of the community therefore, consistent attendance is an essential function of this position, as it directly impacts the employee’s ability to perform their duties effectively and ensures proper workflow and communication within the team. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet residents, prospects, and visitors making them feel welcome and comfortable.

Remove and dispose of all trash from the grounds, parking pots, hallways, laundries, apartments, and rental office. Repair fences. Work to enhance the appearance of all common areas; clean pool, and playgrounds, weed lawns and flower beds, place mulch, prune trees etc. Routinely inspect all ground spaces including but not limited to natural terrain which may post a trip hazard by a visible hole, divot, or any other means.

Other duties as assigned. OCCASIONAL FUNCTIONS: Mow and trim the lawn. Perform minor repairs requiring the use of hand tools. Clean roofs and gutters. Paint signage. POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read and write in English. Valid Driver’s License (if operating a vehicle) PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Physical Activities up to and including, typing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs, or standing for periods of time.

Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. GENERAL: Hours worked will coincide with the hours of operation in the community. This position may be required to work on weekends as necessary.
