Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Batch Maker is to blend raw material ingredients for finished products in accordance with product specifications, quality standards within the procedures (SOP) and guidelines by performing the following. Essential Job Functions (listing most important first): Process batch requests from Lead Batchmaker and Supervisor as received.
Pre-stage raw materials for upcoming batches from pick list and confirm stock levels of raw materials and components. Weigh and measure raw materials, ingredients, and/or products at specified intervals to ensure conformance to requirements. Operate mixers, blenders and other equipment to blend raw material ingredients for finished product in accordance with SOP batch sheet instructions, product specifications, and quality standards.
Coordinate sample requests by QC Lab for testing and obtain Batch approval or adjustment. Transfer materials, supplies, and products between storage and work areas, using forklifts or other moving equipment in a safe, effective and efficient way. Transport empty drums, partial drums and unused raw materials to designated storage areas.
Follow Standard Operating procedures (SOP’s), Safety guidelines, and adhere to company standards Ensure that work environment is maintained clean, safe and organized. Follow safe work procedures. Identify and report unsafe practices to management immediately. Complete daily assigned tasks to meet schedule volume and schedule.
Perform related duties as required by supervision.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED is required; Vocational or Technical training preferred. One year (1) previous experience in manufacturing or warehouse setting is required.
Minimum Qualifications
(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to understand instructions and procedures so that all tasks are completed accurately and on time; effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization Knowledge of raw materials and batch mixing procedures; must understand weighing and measuring both liquid and powder materials.
Must be team oriented and work well as part of a team in order to effectively collaborate with other departments to effectively and efficiently meet established goals for the company Time management abilities maintain accurate and timely record keeping of each formulation batch. Proficiency and certification in the operation of material handling equipment including, but not limited to, narrow aisle and sit-down forklifts, order pickers, and power pallet jacks.
Requires reasoning ability to solve practical problems where standardized information exists; ability to interpret instructions and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical Demands/Work Environment: Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold Manufacturing/production environment with limited exposure to flammable materials/hazardous waste This work environment requires the use of respirators, including half-mask and full forced air breathing apparatus The noise level in the work environment is moderate to moderately loud within the warehouse This is a fast paced, hands-on physical work environment and is required to stand for long periods of time Involves stressful situations and accountability to adhere to production standards each day Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, reaching, feeling, handling and grasping of materials; must be able to move or handle large hoses, pumps, drive forklifts, bending, standing, twisting, walking, kneeling, push/pull and repetitive motions Must be able to lift weight in excess of 50 pounds frequently Must be able to wear a properly fitted respirator for extended periods LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMER: This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions.
