BESS Project Manager

About the role

We're looking for a BESS Project Manager (Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems) on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment. It is a W-2 position. You will lead advanced technical planning for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This planning will span from early development through construction readiness and will also include financial and regulatory planning.

You will report to the onsite manager. Location: Juno Beach, FL 33408 (in Office) We may require occasional travel to project locations and to support Development with local public hearings.

Key Responsibilities

Lead advanced pre‑construction planning and optimization for utility‑scale BESS projects, integrating engineering design, financial modeling, procurement strategy, and regulatory constraints to support executive investment decisions. Manage critical coordination of matrixed project development teams to ensure resources are focused on the right activities to meet project schedules.

Coordinate with environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, interconnection, and other project variables to ensure comprehensive project development. Develop the project's technical scope and variables to improve both technical and financial feasibility. Present financial models to respective teams and manage them through executive budget approvals.

Competitively source, negotiate, and implement commercial contracts for critical services, including geotechnical, survey, engineering, and EPC/PC construction services. Represent E&C's interests on assigned projects and participate in multiple software applications to support activities, manage critical data, and report on main indicators.

Communicate and interface with Executive Leadership, Suppliers, Regulatory Agencies, Local Communities, and other team members. Present project progress and risk mitigation strategies in meetings with multiple levels of management. Ensure seamless handover of projects moving to the Construction stage to the Construction Project Manager with an inclusive and executable construction plan.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering,. Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on engineering, economics, or construction. Technical experience with renewable energy projects, electricity markets, renewables, and battery projects.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Six Sigma experience are helpful. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $35.00/hr to $40.00/hr.
