Job description
We are looking for an unlimited Mechanical Journeyman licensed person to handle their HVAC and facility needs. If you're looking for a set schedule that never fluctuates (6am to 2pm Monday
- Friday 99% of the time). No peak season where you're working 100 hours a week and low season where you're barely getting 30 hours a week. The City-County Library Mechanical Journeyman operates and maintains mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for Central and branch libraries. This position also performs general labor, landscaping, irrigation, janitorial services and cosmetic maintenance as well as routine maintenance/repairs on vehicle fleet.
Responsibilities include
Operates, maintains, inspects and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including boilers and chillers. Assures compliance with City, State and Federal regulations/codes and promotes safe operations of physical plant. Operates, designs, installs and maintains building plumbing systems, including sprinkler systems, pumps, and fountains, as well as building electrical systems including lighting systems, fixtures, and emergency lighting systems.
Operates and maintains building life safety programs, to include building fire prevention systems; Maintains and repairs library vehicles and bookmobile generator; Maintains building security systems and performs routine maintenance duties such as painting, cleaning, and repairing furnishings and equipment; Purchases approved materials, equipment and supplies Perform the following Safety Sensitive functions: Operation of company owned vehicles, forklift, heavy equipment, machinery, and power tools; Extracts, compresses, handles and/or transports potentially volatile, flammable, or combustible components; Repairs, maintains and monitors the performance of equipment and machinery Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to pass a pre-employment (post-offer) physical and drug screen; Journeyman Mechanical license and EPA refrigerant handling certification required; City of Tulsa Limited First Class Engineer’s operating license required within 3 years of hire. Thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems and ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair same; Ability to read schematics and blueprints; Good communication skills; Valid Oklahoma driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
Education
& Experience High school diploma or GED required; Specialized training in HVAC, Chillers, and Boiler systems preferred; Three or more years directly related experience required, including three or more years’ experience in (100 + ton) boilers, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems preferred; Or equivalent combination of technical training, education, and/or experience.
