Job Summary
The Faculty Physician provides quality medical care to patients in a clinical setting. The Faculty Physician also assists management in developing policies and procedures relating to patient needs. Job Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide diagnostic cytopathology services (GYN and non-GYN, FNA, EBUS/EUS-guided procedures) and general surgical pathology sign-out Participate in on-site evaluation (ROSE) as needed Teach and supervise pathology residents and, if applicable, cytopathology/surgical pathology fellows Participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case conference Engage in quality assurance, departmental committees, and lab directorship duties as assigned Pursue scholarly activity (case reports, clinical research, QI projects) commensurate with academic rank Provide quality treatment to all patients in a professional manner Participate in the teaching/training program(s) Communicate with administrators, and Physicians to facilitate practice operations Participate in team effort to guarantee efficient services to patients Conforms to the ethical code of conduct of his/her professional organization, to the Wayne Health Corporate Compliance Program and all standards of the Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics, and to clinic policies and procedures Maintains a current professional license, professional liability insurance at limits required by Wayne Health Credentialing as applicable Attend meetings and training as requested including participation in mandatory annual Wayne Health training in such areas as: recipient rights, confidentiality, corporate compliance, prevention of violence and management of unsafe behaviors, and cultural competence Participates in professional development activities and keeps current with healthcare trends and practices Obeys confidentiality as required by all federal, state, regulatory and Wayne Health policies Perform related duties as assigned Education, Licensure/Certification, and Training: Licensed M.
D. or D.O. Board eligible Board certified/board eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or AP/CP Fellowship training and board certification/eligibility in Cytopathology preferred Eligible for unrestricted Michigan medical license Strong diagnostic and communication skills; interest in resident/fellow education Skills and Abilities: High level of interpersonal skills, written and verbal, necessary to effectively communicate, establish, and maintain productive working relationships with people inside and outside the Department and/or Practice Excellent analytical ability necessary to independently identify and resolve extremely complex and unusual problems or discrepancies Clinical knowledge to meet the medical requirements relating to various procedures Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, personnel and/or financial data Excellent organizational skills to work independently, prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and manage time Patient management skills necessary to provide quality care Safety Requirements: Compliance with Department Health and Safety policies and procedures Working Conditions/Schedule: Hours and days to be determined by the business need of the department.
