The Opportunity: UST is looking for a Software Design & Development Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software solutions supporting Client validation laboratories and automation infrastructure. The role focuses on building automation frameworks, backend services, engineering tools, and workflow automation to enhance lab productivity, operational efficiency, and system reliability. Key Roles & Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain software solutions supporting Client validation labs and automation infrastructure. Develop Python applications, backend services, automation frameworks, monitoring utilities, and engineering tools. Build and maintain APIs, databases, and workflow automation solutions to streamline lab operations. Investigate complex software and hardware interactions to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Develop scripts and automation utilities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. Administer engineering tools and ensure their availability, reliability, and optimal performance. Create and maintain technical documentation, automation guides, and system recovery procedures. Support CI/CD integration for automation frameworks and software deployment processes. Collaborate with Client engineering teams to deliver scalable automation solutions and resolve technical challenges. Provide technical guidance and support to lab technicians and engineering teams on automation tools and best practices. Continuously identify opportunities to improve lab productivity, automation coverage, and operational reliability.
Required Skills
Python Development Software Development and Backend Services Automation Framework Development API Design and Development Database Design and Management CI/CD Integration Workflow Automation Scripting and Process Automation Engineering Tool Administration Monitoring Utilities Development Software Troubleshooting and Debugging Technical Documentation Desired Skills: Experience developing automation solutions for validation labs or engineering environments.
Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems. Familiarity with hardware-software integration and infrastructure automation. Experience with version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices. Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and RESTful APIs. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional engineering teams.
Qualification: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
