Where You Fit In As an Estimator, you will lead the estimating process from inception through proposal submission, ensuring accurate, complete, and competitive bids are delivered on time.

Responsibilities include

reviewing plans and specifications, defining project scopes of work, soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and supplier pricing, preparing detailed cost estimates, and coordinating all bid-related activities. This role also supports pre-construction efforts by assisting customers with budgeting and value engineering, collaborating with internal teams to review bid strategy and profit margins, and participating in pre- and post-job meetings to evaluate project performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Review plans and specifications to define project scopes of work, identify effective production methods, and prepare subcontractor bid packages for distribution. Manage estimating workflow to provide complete proposals before bid deadlines Complete quantity take-offs and enter bid information into the company’s estimating software Establish recommended profit margins in alignment with current pricing guidelines and project requirements Evaluate and recommend preferred subcontractors for each project in collaboration with Project Managers Solicit written quotes for hard materials and site furnishings Submit plant lists to the Purchaser to be sourced and priced Assist customers with technical information and pricing during pre-construction Review bids with Branch and Region Managers based on approval limits Participate in pre-job and post-job meetings Qualifications: Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications Ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors and customers Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to project a professional image and a positive attitude in all situations Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines Proficiency in computer applications, with demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); experience with estimating software preferred Understanding of business math, budgeting, and reporting principles related to estimating and project costs Minimum one year experience preferred, but not necessary for entry-level candidates What We Offer Competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications Hands-on learning from day one with ongoing opportunities to learn, grow, and build your career Paid time off and holidays to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, plus flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to help cover healthcare and dependent care expenses 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with confidential support for personal, financial, and wellness needs A people-first, family-oriented culture where teamwork, respect, and growth matter and where your hard work is recognized and appreciated Why Ruppert Our success starts with our people.
