Lead Technician

About the job

As a Lead Technician with Atlantic Waste Services you will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for all maintenance and diagnostics related to a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.

Responsibilities

Perform repair and maintenance tasks on the Company’s fleet of roll off, front end, residential, tractor trailer and grapple trucks. Possess excellent automotive and truck industry skills, including in depth knowledge of cooling systems, brakes, suspension systems, tune-ups, engine work, drive trains, clutches, transmissions, rear-ends, front-end work, tires, air-conditioning systems, electrical systems, and exhaust systems.

Direct and supervise other shop employees. Demonstrate good organizational and time management skills. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills in dealing with vendors, and fellow employees. Determine or identify and repair problems with the Company’s fleet of vehicles. Be proficient with tools and other equipment such as pneumatic and hand tools and possess good hand-eye coordination.

Perform transmission works as required. Read and interpret parts manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Effectively communicate in written and spoken English and generates, writes, and reads work orders. Assist and train other employees. Any other duties and tasks may be assigned, from time to time, by the Vice President & President.

Licensing/Registration/Certification Required: Valid Driver’s License. Preferred: Class A CDL.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education. Preferred: Two-Year degree from an accredited college or trade school with a minimum of two years automotive and diesel truck service and repair training. Experience Required: Three or more years’ experience as Lead Technician of an equivalent trucking company service and repair or related operation experience.
