As an NDT Technician II – Radiographic Testing (RT), you will independently perform radiographic inspections and evaluate aerospace components in accordance with NAS 410, Karman’s Written Practice, approved procedures, customer requirements, and applicable safety regulations.

You will be responsible for equipment setup and standardization, inspection execution, interpretation of film and digital radiographic results, and acceptance or rejection of product within your authorized certification scope. You will also support quality investigations, audits, continuous improvement activities, and provide technical guidance to Level I technicians and trainees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform Radiographic Testing (RT) inspections within the scope of assigned Level II certifications using approved procedures, techniques, work instructions, and customer requirements. Set up, operate, standardize, and perform required system performance checks on radiographic inspection equipment within authorized limits.

Interpret and evaluate film and digital radiographic inspection results and determine product acceptance or rejection using approved acceptance criteria. Select and apply appropriate inspection techniques and process parameters within the limitations of approved procedures and assigned certification. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, inspection plans, and applicable customer requirements.

Develop work instructions from approved general procedures when authorized and submit documentation for required review and approval. Accurately document inspection results while maintaining required part identification, traceability, inspection records, and quality documentation. Identify and communicate nonconformances, questionable indications, equipment concerns, and process deviations to Quality, Engineering, and other appropriate functions.

Provide technical guidance, supervision, and on-the-job training to NDT Trainees and Level I personnel within the scope of authorization. Support root cause and corrective action activities, Material Review Board activities, Nadcap and customer audits, and continuous improvement initiatives related to NDT processes. Maintain NDT equipment and work areas in accordance with safety, calibration, preventive maintenance, housekeeping, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) requirements.

Follow all applicable company and radiographic safety requirements, including ALARA principles, dosimetry requirements, postings, interlocks, radiation surveys, and other required radiation-control practices. Perform other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Must meet the requirements for Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT) in accordance with NAS 410, Karman’s Written Practice, and applicable customer requirements.

2–5 years of experience as a certified Level II NDT Technician in Radiographic Testing or equivalent qualifying education, training, and experience. Ability to provide documented evidence of applicable NDT training, experience, and prior certifications for evaluation. Thorough knowledge of the scope and limitations of Radiographic Testing methods and techniques within assigned certification.

Demonstrated ability to independently perform inspections, interpret and evaluate results, and apply approved acceptance criteria. Working knowledge of applicable NDT procedures, specifications, aerospace quality requirements, and customer requirements. Ability to perform required equipment standardization, calibration verification, and system performance checks within authorized limits.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, work instructions, and inspection requirements. Ability to provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to Level I personnel and NDT Trainees. Must meet applicable vision, color perception, and other qualification requirements associated with NAS 410 certification.

IRRSP certification or applicable state radiography certification/card when required for assigned Radiographic Testing duties.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

College coursework, technical training, or additional education related to nondestructive testing, manufacturing, engineering, or a related technical field. Level II certification or documented training and experience in additional NDT methods, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Penetrant Testing (PT).

Experience with computed radiography, digital radiography, image processing, DICONDE archiving, and radiographic technique optimization. Previous aerospace, space, or defense manufacturing experience. Familiarity with Nadcap NDT audit requirements, AS9100, and aerospace customer quality requirements. Experience supporting root cause analysis, corrective action, Material Review Board activities, or continuous improvement efforts.

LEVEL II – LIMITED (COMPOSITES ONLY) When certification is designated as Level II – Limited (Composites Only), authorization is restricted to specific Radiographic Testing inspections of composite materials as defined by Karman’s Written Practice. Within the authorized scope, the technician may: Perform designated RT inspections on approved composite materials and hardware.

Evaluate and accept or reject predetermined hardware when authorized by the Quality Manager and Responsible Level III. Provide technical guidance and supervision to NDT Trainees and Level I personnel within the limitations of the certification. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods, including shifts of eight hours or longer.

Ability to use hands, arms, and fingers to operate computers, inspection equipment, tooling, and related devices. Ability to meet applicable visual acuity and color perception requirements associated with NDT certification. Corrective lenses are permitted when allowed by applicable standards. Ability to frequently perform repetitive movements, grasp, reach overhead, and reach below shoulder level.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position operates within manufacturing, inspection, warehouse, and controlled shop environments. The role may involve moderate noise, production equipment, radiographic inspection equipment, and other conditions typical of an aerospace manufacturing facility.

Employees must comply with all applicable safety procedures and radiation-control requirements. TRAVEL No regular travel is required for this position.
