Roads Maintainer

Overview

This position performs asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads; performs concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes.

Responsibilities

Work as a Roads Maintainer on an assigned crew during the summer and handle winter maintenance duties as assigned in the winter. Asphalt Work: Conduct pre-trip inspections, road repairs, utility cuts, crack sealing, pothole repairs, infrared repairs, and asphalt plant. Concrete Work: Perform pre-trip inspections, install and repair sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, repair manholes and catch basins, and perform mud-jacking.

Snow Removal: Operate single/dual axle dump trucks (tandem) with plow, wing, a variety of salters and anti-icing to remove and haul snow, make salt brine, operate sidewalk plows, and shovel snow. Other Duties: Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Education

Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. Additional Requirements Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing. Shift work may be required for winter maintenance activities: available for winter call outs as required. Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with customers. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
