Grass Lake Animal Hospital is looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team! We are seeking someone who is dependable, motivated, has a positive attitude, and is passionate about providing exceptional care to pets and their families. We understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we offer a four-day workweek with no Saturdays!

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a veterinary hospital and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures. Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats. Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for appointments and procedures. Obtain patient histories and communicate effectively with clients. Assist with laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, and patient care.

Greet clients and their pets, creating a friendly and welcoming environment. Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, and respond to client inquiries. Check patients in and out, process payments, and review invoices. Maintain accurate patient records and update client information. Coordinate medication refill requests and communicate with the veterinary team.

Address client questions and concerns professionally and compassionately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment. Provide exceptional customer service and compassionate patient care. Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and fellow team members to ensure efficient daily operations.

Qualifications

Previous veterinary assistant experience required. Strong animal handling and restraint skills. Excellent customer service, communication, and phone etiquette skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and stay organized in a fast-paced veterinary hospital. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Comfortable using computers and learning veterinary practice management software.

Ability to handle difficult or emotional situations with patience, compassion, and professionalism. Dependable, hardworking, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to adapt to changing responsibilities. Genuine passion for animal care, client education, and helping pets and their families.
