Maintenance Manager/Head Plant Engineer

South Hill, VA | Plant Engineering & Maintenance Leadership Southern Textile Service, Inc. | South Hill, VA | Full-Time Pay: $100,000–$130,000 per year

Southern Textile Service is seeking an experienced Head Plant Engineer / Maintenance Manager for our South Hill, VA facility — a family-owned regional company serving customers since 1934.

You'll bring 3–5 years of maintenance leadership experience, leading the team while overseeing equipment reliability, facilities, utilities, and capital projects.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and schedule the maintenance team, including emergency coverage
• Build and improve preventative/predictive maintenance programs; track KPIs like uptime, MTBF, and MTTR
• Oversee boilers, air compressors, and plant utility systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-driven systems
• Support capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives

What You Need

• 5+ years of maintenance experience, including 3–5 years leading a team
• Strong knowledge of several of: boilers, air compressors, hydraulics/pneumatics, electrical/PLCs, welding
• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills; ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Associate's degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent experience
