Carpenter

Description George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory high school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has an opening for a Carpenter. Repairs and replaces structural woodwork and wood equipment such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, doors, hardwood floors, shelving, display cases, building framework, and trim.

Repairs and replaces building architectural systems and elements such as: windows, doors and associated hardware, glazing, screens, roofs, insulation, floor covering, minor painting, directly applied and suspended ceilings, vinyl composition floor tiles, gutters and stairs. Performs minor building and office renovations, working from drawings and includes planning the work; estimating and arranging the materials, supplies, and equipment required; and coordinating with other trades.

Requirements

High school diploma. Valid driver’s license. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the Carpentry field. Knowledge of methods and practices used in woodworking, cabinetry, metal and plastic building systems, equipment, and furniture. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions related to chemicals used in the trade. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, charts, and technical instructions.

Ability to properly use hand tools and power equipment used in the trade. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects over 50 lbs. and to move and transport materials and equipment weighing in excess of 200 lbs. with assistance. Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders and to work from elevated platforms or rooftops.
