Job Summary

The Part-Time Cashier provides friendly, efficient customer service, accurately processes sales, and helps maintain a clean, organized store environment. This role requires flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Essential Job Functions: These functions are critical to the role and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

• Deliver friendly, efficient customer service and accurately process retail, lottery, and fuel transactions, including verifying identification for age-restricted sales and authorizing fuel pumps.
• Maintain accountability for cash, payment activity, and shift reconciliation in accordance with company procedures.
• Receive deliveries and stock, rotate, price, and organize merchandise, including stockroom and cooler inventory, based on business needs.
• Maintain clean, safe, orderly, and adequately stocked customer-service and operational areas, including the checkout area, sales floor, coffee station, restrooms, and fuel area.
• Follow applicable legal and company requirements for safety, security, loss prevention, cash handling, opening and closing, fuel monitoring, spill response, and emergency shutoff procedures.
• Communicate safety concerns, equipment issues, suspicious activity, and other operational needs to the General Manager and perform other related essential duties consistent with the role.
• Complete required meetings and training related to age-restricted sales, cash handling, safety, security, harassment prevention, and other job responsibilities as scheduled. Non-Essential Job Functions: These are supportive in nature but not essential to the core function of the job.
• Assist with seasonal merchandise, promotional displays, or store decorations during designated promotional periods.
• Participate in scheduled inventory counts or product audits occasionally.
• Assist with special store events, promotions, or customer-engagement activities occasionally.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic math and communication skills.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
• Ability to provide dependable, respectful customer service.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Prior cashier or retail experience is helpful but not required.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must meet all legal and company requirements for handling or selling age-restricted products.

Preferred Qualifications

These are supportive in nature but not required.

• At least 6 months of cashier, convenience store, retail, or customer service experience in the past 3 years.
• Experience working at a cash register in a high-volume retail environment.
• Experience checking identification for all age-restricted sales as required by law and company policy.
• Experience stocking, pricing, rotating, or organizing merchandise in a retail or convenience store.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Physical Requirements:
• Stand and walk for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull.
• Lift and carry up to 30 pounds; use assistance or equipment for heavier items.
• Use store equipment with repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• See and hear sufficiently to perform transactions and respond to safety concerns.
• Move safely between the store, stockroom, walk-in cooler, and outdoor fuel area. Work Environment: Work is performed indoors and outdoors, including at fuel pumps, with exposure to varying weather, fuel vapors, cleaning chemicals, and walk-in cooler temperatures.
