Senior UI/UX Designer – R&D
Job description
Description We build products used by intelligence and government agencies working on some of the toughest problems out there — national security, public safety, and counter-crime operations. Our platforms help analysts and operators surface, understand, and act on complex data, in environments where accuracy, speed, and trust aren’t optional.
About the Role
We’re growing our Product-UX team and looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to join the team, working closely with Engineering inside a technical, hands-on R&D organization. Depth of systems thinking, speed of execution, and maturity of design judgment matter here — as does how well you collaborate with the rest of the team.
We’re looking for someone who can translate complex, high-stakes investigative workflows into fast, clear, dependable interfaces, and who naturally uses modern AI tools to accelerate their design process.
Responsibilities
Design intuitive, user-centered workflows and information architectures for complex, data-dense web applications. End-to-End Design: Turn product specs and user needs into wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes in Figma. Visual UI & Design System: Craft polished, consistent interfaces; maintain and evolve the design system and component library.
Customer Insights & Feedback: Gather user feedback through conversations and surveys; translate insights into design directions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with Product and Engineering to shape both user-facing interfaces and system-level behaviors. AI-Augmented Design: Use AI tools to accelerate design exploration and rapid iteration — generating concepts quickly, refining mockups to polish, and maintaining the design system efficiently.
Reducing Cognitive Load: Apply user-centered design principles to simplify complex workflows and reduce cognitive overload.
Requirements
5+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer for web applications, with a proven track record on complex, technical products. Strong Portfolio: demonstrating interaction design, information architecture, and strong visual/UI design on real, shipped products. Design Tool Proficiency: Expert-level Figma (component systems, design systems, prototyping).
AI-Native Workflow: Daily, hands-on integration of AI tools (e.g., Claude, Figma AI, Copilot) into your professional design workflow. Technical Literacy: Comfortable working with engineering teams on technical products. Analytical Thinking: Able to turn ambiguous, fragmented data into clear, structured UI. Communication: Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to explain design decisions clearly.
Advantages (Nice to Have) Domain experience in cybersecurity, intelligence, or defense. B2B/B2G product experience. Experience building complex, data-dense, analyst-facing tooling from scratch. Why Join Us? High-Impact Mission: Work on meaningful problems where your design decisions affect public safety and security. Technically Sharp Peers: Partner with a hands-on R&D team that understands the details and respects the craft of design.
Modern Workflow: AI tools are part of how we actually work day to day, freeing up time for deep problem-solving rather than busywork
