POSITION : Elementary School Instructional Coach (1.0 FTE) LOCATION: LOCATION: Bentley and Dodson Elementary Schools Plymouth-Canton seeks to employ culturally responsive professional educators who can support and sustain equity-focused instruction for all learners. These educators create high-achieving learning environments that support student growth.
They understand the importance of identifying and systematically applying differentiated instruction and assessment to improve the achievement levels of our culturally and linguistically diverse student population. The Instructional Coach will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional development to expand and refine understanding of evidence-based instructional practices that support effective instruction.
To meet this purpose, the Instructional Coach will provide personalized support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers. JOB GOAL: To actively aid and support staff in improving their knowledge, skills, and effectiveness in meeting the educational needs of students in all academic areas. To meet and coach individual teachers and groups of teachers as they discuss and learn about curriculum, pedagogy, assessments, Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS), instructional differentiation, and a broad array of evidence-based teaching practices.
The purpose is to actively aid and support district and school teams in the development and implementation of high-quality curriculum and instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
- Five (5) years of teaching experience.
- Possess and demonstrate presentation skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with peers and students.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Desire to continue to learn.
- Knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards.
- Knowledge of interventions that support student learning.
- Experience/training in curriculum development processes preferred.
- Exceptional knowledge of using assessments and assessment data to inform instruction.
- Expert knowledge in evidence-based instructional strategies and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Knowledge in the use of technology to support high-quality instruction.
- Demonstrates exceptional skill in their role of teacher leader: collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner, and learner advocate.
- Experience integrating literacy concepts across content areas.
- LETRS training preferred. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches and models the use of methods commonly referred to as best practices.
- Models individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction.
- Team-teaches lessons with teachers modeling effective instructional strategies.
- Designs and models instructional interventions that address specific student learning needs.
- Plans and models instruction that meets the linguistic and culturally diverse needs of our student population.
- Works with teachers in applying evidence-based reading and writing strategies in all content areas.
- Supports administrators and other teacher leaders in developing curriculum, identifying high-quality instructional practices, and using formative and summative assessments.
- Designs and models student assessments as part of regular classroom instruction.
- Trains teachers in data analysis and using data to inform instruction.
- Uses data to make targeted decisions regarding best practices.
- Provides supportive feedback to teachers and administrators regarding instructional practices.
- Designs and presents workshops to support ongoing professional development.
- Leads groups discussing pedagogy.
- Facilitates study groups.
- Coaches and mentors colleagues.
- Works collaboratively with other district leaders.
- Builds rapport with teachers, students, and community.
- Communicates clearly and concisely using both written and oral methods.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by their immediate supervisor.
