- Non-CDL Box Truck Driver Position Summary The Driver (Class D) is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of products to customers and company locations using a non-CDL box truck. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate deliveries, maintaining excellent customer service, and upholding all company safety standards. Drivers are expected to perform vehicle inspections, load and unload materials, and maintain delivery documentation while representing the company in a professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate a Class D non-CDL box truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and company policies. Deliver products to customers accurately and on schedule. Load, unload, and secure cargo to prevent damage during transport. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
Verify delivery information, obtain customer signatures, and complete required documentation. Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules and issues. Assist with warehouse activities, including receiving, stocking, inventory counts, and order preparation as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and work area. Provide excellent customer service while representing the company professionally. Follow all company safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with route planning and identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid Class D driver's license with a clean driving record. Minimum of 1-2 years of delivery driving experience preferred. Ability to operate a box truck and navigate delivery routes efficiently. Basic math, reading, and communication skills. Experience using handheld devices, delivery applications, or GPS systems preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Physical Requirements Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds unassisted. Ability to occasionally move materials weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance or equipment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb in and out of a truck throughout the workday.
Ability to work in varying weather and temperature conditions. Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
