Job Requisition: SURGI002073 Employment Type: Per Diem Shift: Days w/ call Hours Per Week: As scheduled Hiring range: $ 29.60- $39.59 Below are the shift differentials based on eligible shifts worked: Weekday evening shift - additional 10% Weekday night shift - additional 15% Weekend day shift - additional 10% Weekend evening & night shifts - additional 21% The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies. Hands required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

Assists surgeons’ provision of hemostasis during surgery.

Education

High school diploma/GED required. Has successfully completed a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization; has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; provides evidence that the person was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015; or is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service.

New graduates may not be employed to practice for more than twelve a month period immediately following successful completion of a surgical technology program without documentation that the employee holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization Licensure / Certification / Registration: Required Credential(s): BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the New York Board of Nursing. Certifications / Licensure: Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from New York State obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. BLS Provider obtained within three (3) Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
