Job Summary

The Service Writer ensures the efficient operation of and control of work request. This position directly interacts with multiple departments, individual operators, and provides customer satisfaction through clerical shop and telephone support. The role of the Service Writer is to schedule appointments and in-house work by maximizing the efficiency of the service department and its technicians.

The service writer communicates work directions with supervisors and mechanics and inform customers of the progress of the work. Duties/Responsibilities Answer telephones for shop lines and schedule repair appointments Maintain vehicle information files Take road call information, communicate with shop supervisor, or director of maintenance to dispatch mechanic or outside service Contact outside vendors to arrange mechanical repairs as needed Notify dispatch of completed repairs Setting up PM’s & repairs Properly fill out all RO’s for technicians and warranty writer.

Make determination as to warranty work Assign fixed times to RO’s using repair time standards Reconcile RO’s on weekly basis Contact dispatch on the status of their vehicle and if required upon the completion of the repair order. Assist with parts inventories and cycle counts, procurement, storage and billing. Complete yard checks and/or safety inspections Assist with shop administrative processes and run reports as scheduled Complete repair orders, oil analysis, and all paperwork involved in daily office procedures
