UHP is currently affiliated with 154 providers consisting of 110 physicians and 44 advanced practice providers operating out of 54 locations across Southern, Central, and Northern California.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Radiation Therapist is a non-exempt position that assists in localizing tumors, participates in treatment planning, and delivers high doses of ionizing radiation prescribed by a radiation oncologist. Radiation Therapists are the primary liaison between patients and other members of the radiation oncology team. The Radiation Therapist uses professional judgment and critical thinking when assisting with treatment planning, recognizing, and resolving equipment problems and treatment discrepancies, anticipating patient needs and concerns, and determining when treatment should be withheld until a physician can be consulted.
What you will be doing Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment and uses all equipment proficiently, including function, emergency shutdown procedures, and warm-up procedures. Ensures that proper tattoos and/or skin markings are given and documented per GHP policy. Performs and documents Quality Assurance on IMRT plans, HDR equipment, daily treatment machines, and laser equipment per GHP policy.
Observe the first signs of any complications and determine when a treatment should be withheld until a physician is consulted. Follows all procedures for reporting safety issues or potentially hazardous working conditions to the lead therapist or management.
