Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: ** Conduct comprehensive post-anesthesia evaluations, heavily focusing on airway management, hemodynamic stability, and pain control.

• Vital Monitoring: ** Continuously measure, assess, and record patients' levels of consciousness and vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels).

• Symptom Management: ** Administer prescribed medications to treat post-operative side effects, such as pain, nausea, and vomiting.

• Team Collaboration: ** Work seamlessly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary staff to prioritize patient acuity, unit flow, and specialized interventions.

• Emergency Response: ** Provide airway management, administer emergency fluids or drugs, and utilize advanced cardiac life support techniques when necessary.

• Discharge & Education: ** Provide emotional support, comfort measures, and clear post-operative discharge instructions to patients and their families.

Qualifications

& Requirements

• Education: ** Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program. BSN or MSN is highly preferred.

• Experience: ** Prior clinical experience in a hospital setting. Previous background in PACU, Critical Care/ICU, or the Operating Room (OR) is strongly preferred.

• Licensure: ** Valid and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state of Virginia.

• Certifications: ** Current BLS and ACLS certifications (or ability to obtain within a set timeframe).
