00 - $26.26 POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining reception desk activities, including greeting, scheduling, and instructing patients and visitors in accordance with BCH customer service standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintain regular and punctual attendance to support operational efficiency. Adhere to State and Federal laws, upholding high ethical standards. Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts. Participates in staff meetings and hospital wide service programs as required. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients to encourage a collaborative workplace environment.

Schedule patient appointments per physician guidelines, addressing practice needs. Accurately enter and update patient information, including demographic and insurance details, following verification during each office visit. Utilize a multi-line telephone system to answer and screen calls, ensuring accurate message taking and prompt communication of information to the appropriate individuals.

Notify staff of patient arrivals for seamless care. Keep the reception area and lobby clean and hazard-free. Direct patients to various clinic or hospital areas as needed. Perform related duties, including floating to various clinics to cover absences as directed by Clinic Directors. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Qualified individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Must be computer literate and have outstanding customer service skills. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. EQUIPMENT/TOOLS: Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, copy machine, calculator, facsimile, and scanners. WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical working conditions include sitting at a desk for extended periods of time while working on a computer or talking on the phone. Work is performed in a reception area and involves contact with patients.

Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Requires working under stressful conditions. Vision must be correctable to view computer screens and read printed information. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts and other conversations.
