Drafting Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Hog Slat, Inc. is seeking an experienced Drafting Technician to draft Swine, Poultry, and Farm facilities in the US based out of Newton Grove, NC. Hog Slat, Inc. is the world’s largest provider of production solutions for today’s poultry and hog producers. Our sales team works with local poultry producers to sell turnkey, retrofit, and remodel barn construction projects.

As a Drafting Technician, you will be responsible for communicating with project stakeholders to draft drawings for New Construction, Remodels, and Special Projects to meet our customers’ needs and schedule. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager. General construction knowledge and AutoCAD experience and/or certifications required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

& RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change. Draft a set of drawings with provided specifications, sketches, and related project documents Communicate with the Engineering Manager and all Project Stakeholders effectively Quickly hand-sketch or draw on AutoCAD details and sections for review/approval Produce detailed CAD drawings, plans, elevations, and sections for Concrete, Wood Framing, Equipment sketches/layouts, Plumbing, and Electrical as required Maintain Drawing Folder Structure Organization Ensure Drawings Comply with Industry Standards and Code Requirements Understand project schedules and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines Although rare, willingness to travel is required should field visits be deemed necessary Willingness to answer the phone after normal business hours for emergencies, questions, or working with the project teams in multiple time zones within the US Work in a team environment to support Construction, Sales, and Company Goals and Objectives Continuing Education of other software and best practices at Supervisor’s requests Troubleshoot and identify potential problems while drafting before they are published to the field KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED: The ideal candidate will have the following experience/educational background: AutoCAD or similar Software Experience or Certification Strong understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerancing Attention to detail and accuracy in drawn work Ability to interpret specifications, technical drawings/sketches, and project documents Knowledge of the modern hog and poultry industry is preferred Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record for liability and insurance purposes PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: The most qualified candidate will have the following personal characteristics: Team Oriented Hardworking Flexible Self-Directed and willing to learn and grow within the organization Completes projects within a specified time Ability to Multi-task Excellent Organizational & Communication skills Hog Slat Inc.
