Bus Driver II (Trainee)

Join Arc Herkimer as a Bus Driver. Work as a Bus Driver II as you complete your training requirements with our team to become a Bus Driver! You’ll do more than drive—you’ll help individuals with disabilities travel safely, comfortably, and confidently while supporting our mission of empowering people with disabilities and enriching lives throughout our community.

Full-Time available; 37.5 hours/ week. A typical morning run starts at approximately 5:30am and lasts until 9:30am; a typical afternoon run starts at approximately 2pm and lasts until 5pm. Rate of pay- starting at $21/hour. Pay increases to $23/ hour once full CDL B with passenger or school endorsement is achieved.

What You'll Do

Safely and courteously transport passengers with special needs, along with charter and contract trips. Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, seatbelts, and securement systems. Provide support with transfers, personal care, medical needs, and safety assistance as needed. Follow individual service plans and agency procedures to ensure quality care.

Complete vehicle inspections, maintain cleanliness, fuel vehicles, and report maintenance concerns. Maintain accurate passenger logs, driver records, and incident reports. Build positive relationships with passengers, families, and coworkers. Occasionally cover additional routes as needed. What You’ll Need High School Diploma/GED preferred.

Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Passenger (P) or School (S) endorsement within the timeframe set forth by Arc Herkimer. Why Drive with Arc Herkimer?
