Junior Software Engineer
Job description
Established in 2022, Guardz rapidly emerged as a noteworthy player in the cybersecurity sphere, securing $85M in funding and rallying a dedicated team of 120 industry professionals. Our vision is to foster a safer digital landscape for small and medium businesses across the globe. To this end, we introduced our comprehensive all-in-one platform, and continue to grow and expand our team, our partnerships and our revenue.
As a Junior Software Developer at Guardz, you'll join one of our R&D groups and learn from experienced engineers how real-world security products are built. You'll work across the stack, contribute to features that protect small and medium-sized businesses, and gradually take ownership of product capabilities from idea to production. We care about strong fundamentals and a hunger to learn more than years of experience.
Please note: This is a 6-month position with an option to extend.
Responsibilities
- Develop features across the stack (APIs, data stores, and user-facing components) with guidance and mentorship from senior engineers
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code, and take part in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback
- Gradually take ownership of features, from requirements discussions and technical design through deployment and monitoring in production
- Collaborate with Product Managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver capabilities that matter to service providers and small businesses
- Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow to build, debug, and learn faster
- Learn our product, our customers, and the security domain, and bring fresh ideas to the team
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Hands-on coding experience through academic projects, personal projects, hackathons, or an internship
- Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript
- Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) for writing, debugging, and refactoring code
- A fast, self-driven learner who enjoys solving problems
- Product-oriented mindset and curiosity about how users experience what you build
- A team player with good communication skills, who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic startup
Advantages
- Experience with Node.js and/or React
- Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL or Redis
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), Docker, or CI/CD pipelines
- Basic understanding of software architecture, such as APIs, microservices, or message queues
- Interest in cybersecurity
- Experience with Rust
Why Join Us
We encourage continuous learning, whether it's mastering new technologies, improving coding practices, or strengthening collaboration skills. If you're a motivated graduate who wants to grow fast, learn from experienced engineers, and make a real impact on keeping businesses secure, we'd love to hear from you.
