Job description
Job Title: Accountant
- Financial Services Location: Juba, South Sudan Department: Finance Reports To: Management Accountant Employment Type: Full-Time Job Purpose To maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date financial records, perform reconciliations, review accounting entries, support month-end closing and ensure compliance with financial controls and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily bank, cash, vault and other account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct inter-company reconciliations and maintain accurate supporting schedules.
- Review and approve journal entries within delegated authority.
- Maintain accurate General Ledger and accounting records using QuickBooks or a similar system.
- Review and clear aged, unusual or unsupported balance sheet items.
- Support monthly and year-end financial close and preparation of management reports.
- Maintain proper documentation and compliance with internal controls.
- Support internal and external audits and respond to audit queries.
- Identify accounting issues, recommend solutions and escalate unresolved matters appropriately.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualification.
- At least 3–5 years' relevant accounting experience within financial services, banking, money transfer, foreign exchange, microfinance.
- Strong experience in bank reconciliations, General Ledger, inter-company accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.
- Experience working with multiple entities or currencies.
- Experience working in a cash-intensive businesses or remittance operations environment
- Must have a valid Kenyan passport.
- Member of a professional body. Key Competencies
